Spain to investigate X, Meta, TikTok over AI-generated child sexual abuse material

The Spanish government will ask prosecutors to investigate X, Meta, and TikTok for potentially allowing AI to generate and disseminate child sexual abuse material. PM Pedro Sanchez cited protecting "the mental health, dignity and rights of our sons and daughters." The investigation is based on an expert report analyzing criminal liability for AI-generated deepfakes with explicit sexual content. Spain is also preparing a social media ban for under-16s and legislation holding tech companies responsible for harmful content.
