Australian schools deploy AI chatbots to interrogate students about their work
Some Australian schools now use AI chatbots in "Thinking Mode" to quiz students after they submit assignments, asking probing follow-up questions like "Can you explain this a little bit more?" to verify understanding and deter plagiarism.
At Hills Christian Community School in Adelaide, students also use sensors, drones, and Meta AI glasses with inbuilt speakers for students with disabilities. The school's digital innovation leader says AI tools should "amplify great practice, not dilute it," though teachers remain worried about the pace of change and the technology's accuracy.
