Canva acquires Cavalry for animation and MangoAI for AI-powered ad optimization
Canva acquired UK-based Cavalry, a 2D motion animation tool, and stealth startup MangoAI, which uses reinforcement learning to improve video ad performance. Cavalry will join Canva's Affinity professional suite, adding motion editing to its photo, vector, and layout capabilities.
MangoAI was built by former Netflix and Roblox data scientists. The acquisitions position Canva to compete more directly with Adobe's full creative stack while layering in AI-powered ad optimization.
