Uber CEO predicts majority of rides will be robot-operated within 15-20 years
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said on the Diary of a CEO podcast that "you can imagine the majority of our trips being fulfilled by robots" within 15-20 years, though not within a decade. He emphasized that driver and courier numbers will continue growing in the near term.
The prediction comes as Waymo, Tesla, and Amazon-backed Zoox expand autonomous ride services across US cities. Uber itself has been striking deals with multiple AV partners rather than building its own vehicles after its earlier self-driving effort failed.
