UK police use Palantir AI to crack complex fraud case, translating 100,000+ messages
British police used Palantir's AI investigation tool Nectar to process 1.4 terabytes of evidence from a cross-border ATM fraud gang, reading and translating over 100,000 messages across 24 smartphones. The system identified connections between co-conspirators in England and Romania that would have taken months to find manually.
The UK government pledged over $145M for AI tool rollout across all 43 police forces, including a new national Police.AI center. A senior police AI chief acknowledged the technology will contain bias but pledged to minimize risks through data cleaning and officer training.
