OpenAI COO: enterprise AI has 'not yet really penetrated business processes'

OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap said businesses haven't seen AI adoption at scale despite the hype around agents. "We have not yet really seen enterprise AI penetrate enterprise business processes," he told TechCrunch at the India AI summit. Lightcap said the gap between individual AI use and enterprise deployment inspired OpenAI Frontier, its platform for building and managing business agents. He acknowledged OpenAI itself was one of Slack's most active users in 2025, illustrating continued reliance on traditional enterprise tools.
