Wayve raises $1.5B at $8.6B valuation to take its robotaxi software global
UK-based autonomous vehicle startup Wayve raised $1.5B from Microsoft, Nvidia, Uber, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Stellantis to expand its self-driving software licensing business. The round values the company at $8.6B and includes deployment-linked capital from Uber for robotaxis in 10+ markets starting with London this year.
Unlike Tesla or Waymo, Wayve builds only software and licenses it to automakers and fleet operators. CEO Alex Kendall said the approach avoids the expense of fleet ownership while enabling any vehicle platform to adopt autonomy.
