Perplexity launches Computer, a multi-model AI agent that runs full workflows for hours or months
Perplexity unveiled Computer, a general-purpose digital worker that unifies every current AI capability into one system. Users describe an outcome and Computer breaks it into tasks handled by sub-agents that research, code, generate images, process data, and call APIs in isolated compute environments with real filesystems and browsers. Multiple Computers can run in parallel on long-running projects.
The system orchestrates specialized frontier models rather than relying on one: Opus 4.6 for core reasoning, Gemini for deep research, Nano Banana for images, Veo 3.1 for video, Grok for lightweight tasks, and ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context recall. Users can also choose specific models per subtask. Available now to Perplexity Max subscribers, with Enterprise Max access coming soon.
