Roblox launches 'Build,' turning text prompts into mobile games

Roblox introduced Build, a mobile feature that generates a playable game from a text prompt with no programming, drawing on open-source and proprietary Roblox models to handle mechanics, environments, characters, visuals, and sound. Users can modify and share the initial version. The launch follows similar tools from Google, Microsoft, and Tencent and revives developer worries about AI-generated slop flooding the platform, where a GDC survey found 52% of game professionals believe generative AI is harming the industry. Roblox says Build games will be ranked by the same retention-based criteria as everything else.
