Google Maps goes agentic: Ask Maps can now order food and book hotels
Google added agentic capabilities to Ask Maps, letting the tool order food, book hotels, and find event tickets without leaving the app. Ask a question like "order spicy pad kee mao with seafood for me to pick up on my way home" and it finds open restaurants along your route, then adds the dish to a cart on Square or Toast, with Uber Eats support coming. Hotel search compares prices and availability against constraints like walking distance to a gym.
Google is also wiring Personal Intelligence into Ask Maps, so responses draw on Gmail and Calendar to account for existing plans. Users can now update location data conversationally, including uploading a storefront photo that Maps parses for revised opening hours. The push turns Maps from navigation into a task-completion assistant.
